Jeff Buckley

Ten years ago I awoke this morning, on my drive to work, to hear my favorite station (WMNF) report that Jeff Buckley was missing after swimming the prior night in the muddy waters near Memphis, TN.

Obviously, the news report itself was memorable. Unfortunately, I was a fan of his father’s music but hadn’t yet learned of Jeff’s music at the time of his passing. I knew that the Grace album was highly regarded but never got around to seeking it out. Snot-puppies on me!!

Eventually, I found Grace and the other un-released music of Jeff Buckley. Amazing that his dad was considered prolific compared to the only authentic studio album issued from Jeff. Many other comparisons exist between Jeff and his father Tim which are outlined in the Dream Brother book. Search for the book on your favorite book site. I’m not going to bother with an Amazon.com link here today.

Many were the hours spent walking, biking, and driving around the Tampa Bay metro-area listening to this music for the very first time in my life. It was all good; strolling up and down the Bayshore Blvd with Grace in my pre-iPod player was just so bilssful. Hey, what was that hardware I was using back in those days?!?

Glad to know that the music still lives on, and on, and on…
